Overview

What Sovereign Empires is and the loop you play through.

Sovereign Empires is a strategy game that lives on two scales at once. Zoom out and it is a 4X grand-strategy map: a huge world where you found cities, claim land, and fight rival empires. Zoom into any claimed tile and it becomes a city-builder, a hand-laid grid of buildings and roads that decides what that ground produces.

Macro is where you expand. Micro is what each piece of land does.

The loop

A typical game runs through a few tight cycles:

  1. Settle. Found a city on good ground and let it project a claim over the tiles around it.
  2. Build. Drop into a district and lay out buildings and roads to turn that tile into food, materials, income, or housing.
  3. Grow. A fed and housed population lets you claim more land, raise more buildings, and field more force.
  4. Fight. Turn your economy into an army and take the fight to rival empires across land, air, and sea.

The three pillars below (the world, the economy, and warfare) each get their own branch of this wiki. New to it all? The Glossary defines the core terms.
